America is amazing as usual…

I am visiting a very American city, perhaps the most American city, if being American is to persevere, reinvent, hope, dream, stumble, and grow…

The sights and sounds and people are so vivid and alive – like a bright light that no high water can wash away.

So far, the highlights have been many: lazing in the shade of a 475-year-old oak tree on the Homous House lawn; chatting with our waiter-pastry maker at Bayona over rabbit, dirty rice, quail salad and mojito ice cream and sunflower declouis for a sweet finish, listening to incredible tales from the art dealer at Taylor and Bercier Fine Art (next to Cafe Baby on Chartres St); escaping the French Quarter for an impromptu bluegrass concert in the Bayou St. John neighborhood before a dinner of river trout at Lola’s…

I have lots of updates and adventures to report on, so stay tuned for tips and treasures on Crescent City – where I believe anyone who can, should come and enjoy – after all, reveling here is what is rebuilding this city more than anything else.
