Where can I stay in Seattle that’s kid-friendly and eco-friendly?
Lora, from the blog Tripping with Kids was asking me this, and so I thought I’d answer the question for all my readers!

My top choice is the Best Western Executive Inn, at 200 Taylor Avenue North.
The Best Western Executive Inn, located in the heart of Seattle, just a few blocks from downtown, is nestled against the Experience Music Project (EMP) and the Space Needle. My view was better than any TV show could ever be; every few minutes I could watch the monorail glide past the hotel and into the tunnel of the EMP. In the filtered monotone light, the EMP looks like a blob of gum. sort of like Willy Wonka meets recycled airplane parts, My double room on the top floor was clean and sparse, but the location, affordability, and service are the reasons to stay here, not the interior decor. I found I slept better here than at some of the other, more luxe hotels around downtown – it was quiet, it was smoke- and chemical-cleaner-free and my bed was firm, just like I like it.
There are a slew of other great spots that answer this question, like locally-owned B&Bs. I especially love adventuring around the neighborhoods when staying at Salisbury House or Shafer-Baille Mansion, and walking the lake after a hearty breakfast at Greenlake Guest House. As a kid I know I really appreciated a little sophistication, and a home-away-from-home feel on vacations.
In downtown Seattle, Hotel Andra (excellent sound-proof rooms), and Ace Hotel (fun-loving, excellent service) are independent and imbued with art and fine design, plus they are careful to use non-toxic cleaners, energy efficient light fixtures and appliances, and some even offer health care to their friendly staff.
Have a great stay no matter where you decide to rest your head in the Emerald City! Mar Queen Hotel and Silver Cloud Stadium (with a rooftop pool overlooking Safeco Field!) are two more family-friendly options, both run and operated by native Seattlites.
